1. Introduction

Lendio Finance Inc. ("Lendio," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5) and applicable Canadian federal and provincial laws.

2. PIPEDA Principles

Lendio adheres to the ten fair information principles set out in Schedule 1 of PIPEDA: Accountability, Identifying Purposes, Consent, Limiting Collection, Limiting Use/Disclosure/Retention, Accuracy, Safeguards, Openness, Individual Access, and Challenging Compliance.

3. Information We Collect

Information you provide: Full name, date of birth, email, phone number, street address, city, province, postal code, employment details, monthly income, mortgage payment amount.

Banking data via Plaid: Account balances, transaction history (90 days), income verification — collected only with your explicit consent. We never see your banking login credentials, and we cannot move money in or out of your account.

Property information: Whether you own the home, years at the address. After approval and before funding, we confirm ownership through the provincial land registry.

Automatically collected: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, cookies for session management only.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To process and evaluate your loan application using our five-read decision engine (eligibility, identity, fraud, affordability, property)
  • To verify your identity and prevent fraud
  • To confirm the biweekly payment fits your cash flow
  • To confirm home ownership through the land registry
  • To service your loan, including processing biweekly pre-authorized debit payments
  • To send you transactional emails about your application and loan
  • To comply with legal and regulatory requirements

We do not perform credit bureau checks. We do not pull a credit score, and applying with Lendio leaves no mark on your credit file.

5. Consent

We obtain your express consent before collecting personal information. You provide consent by submitting the loan application, connecting your bank account through Plaid, and acknowledging the consent to lien on Step 7 of the application. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, though this may affect our ability to service your loan.

6. Disclosure

We may disclose your personal information to: Plaid (for bank data verification); the provincial land registry (for ownership confirmation); payment processors (for biweekly PAD draws); and as required by law. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Data Security

We protect your personal information with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. Access to personal information is limited to personnel who need it to perform their duties.

8. Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to service an active loan, and to meet legal and regulatory obligations. Loan records are retained for a minimum of seven years following loan closure, as required by applicable regulations.

9. Cookies

Lendio uses essential cookies only — for secure authentication and session management. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking pixels. We do not sell your data.

10. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; withdraw consent (subject to legal and contractual limitations); and file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
